Collaboration

Local Heroes project - Aldgate in Winter Festival 2022

Aldgate in Winter is for the community made by community with a curatorial steer from the

Community Curators to programme activity.

The project has been curated by Lacuna - Creative Projects Studio (https://lacuna-projects.com/)

with the support of Aldgate Connect BID (www.aldgateconnect.london),

City of London and London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

The programme for 2022's Aldgate in Winter included winter markets, live performances, creative workshops,

a community feast and a lantern parade.

The lantern's theme for 2022 was Local Heroes.

Local Heroes were nominated by the

community curators and children based on their active support to the Aldgate community.

The Local Hero had a lantern made to resemble them by artists and school &

community group children. The lantern of them has been included in the parade and

then installed in local venues as part of the light exhibition.

The results of this collaboration have been exhibited

at Toynbee Hall on a large scale outdoor projector screen on the side of the building for the

duration of the festival on Friday 2nd of December 2022.
